TACA'S 45TH ANNUAL CUSTOM AUCTION GALA BENEFITS NORTH TEXAS ARTS ORGANIZATIONS

On September 24, guests wined and dined at the TACA RBC Wealth Management Custom Auction Gala, a part of Proscenium, presented by ALON USA and hosted by Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. This year marked the 45th anniversary of TACA's black tie gala and custom live auction.

More than 250 guests attended the highly successful extravaganza benefiting the performing arts in North Texas. The TACA RBC Wealth Management Custom Auction Gala was chaired by Nancy and Clint Carlson.

Executive Chef Bruno Davaillon and the Mansion culinary team began the evening with passed appetizers including gougere with goat cheese, piquillo pepper and basil; hamachi tartare with yuzu and breakfast radish; chilled corn soup with roasted chiles; and kobe beef bourchette with sweet soy and lemon grass. The first course featured a spicy Jonah crab salad with avocado, pickled mango and basil oil, and the entrée course showcased roasted beef tenderloin with herbed beef jus and ragout of sweet corn and Texas field peas.

After dinner, guests convened in the ballroom for champagne and miniature desserts including chocolate-caramel tarts, blood orange and raspberry tortes, white chocolate exotique and assorted verinnes including apricot almond, strawberry balsamic, lemon meringue and chocolate espresso.

The exclusive, one-of-a-kind live auction, styled by Neiman Marcus, was held immediately after the dessert reception. Mike Jones, auctioneer for United Country Auction Services, coerced and kept the bidding high.

Auction highlights:

  • Rebecca and Barron Fletcher will travel "Around the World with Rosewood" visiting four magnificent Rosewood Hotels & Resorts from California to the Caribbean and Canada to Mexico.
  • Gwen Echols and Suzy Bashore will take four friends to New York for Fall 2011 Fashion Week where they will join Neiman Marcus Fashion Director Ken Downing for the Lela Rose runway show and private dinner at the Rose’s art-filled Tribeca loft.
  • Two of the nine auction packages sold twice. Both Faye Briggs and Hal Brierley will experience the culinary creativity of Chef Kent Rathbun in the eclectic North Oak Cliff setting of SYLVAN THIRTY, former home of 48 Nights. Together Brierley and Frank Risch, as well as Scott Alexander and Nick Even, purchased The Mansion Wine Cellar Dinner with performing arts notables Jaap van Zweden, Kevin Moriarty and Keith Cerny.
